“The Intelligence of SETI” Begins on Earth

Scientists, astronomers, biologists and other researchers gathered Wednesday in Puerto Rico to take part in a day-long workshop, called “The Intelligence of SETI: Cognition and Communication in Extraterrestrial Intelligence”. The goal of the National Space Society’s International Space Development Conference is to discuss the many forms that alien intelligence could take. According to biologists Dominic Sivitilli and David Gire of the University of Washington, “If we are to send a message, we must design it in a way that it can be understood and used by the broadest range of forms that intelligent life could take”. “We can make substantial...

New Theory on “Alien Megastructure”

A new theory has emerged regarding the unusual and intermittent dimming of the mysterious “Tabby” star. Astronomer Bradley Schaefer from Louisiana State University reviewed 100 years worth of archived photographic glass plates at Harvard University and found that the star had dimmed by about 16 to 20% over the last century. His findings coincide with the widely held belief among scientists that a large comet disintegrated into thousands of small comets that cross the star regularly, explaining the phenomenon. Black Hole Sun May Support Life On Orbiting Planets

A black hole sun could be friendlier compared to what you might expect. Planets orbiting a black hole – as they may on the movie Interstellar, may support life, as a consequence of some weird reversal of those thermodynamics experienced by our sun together with Earth. As stated by the 2nd law for thermodynamics, life necessitates a temperature distinction to successfully make a supply of functional energy levels. Daily life on this planet uses the real difference between the sun plus the frozen vacuum in outer space. But let’s say they reverse these temperatures all over, with a chilly sun...

December 19th is the final targeted Enceladus flyby of the mission assignment. The CIRS instrument witnessed the moon’s southerly polar landscape. By the time the voyage ends by 2017, Cassini would have secured observations more than six years of winter darkness while in the moon’s southern hemisphere. They are great environments when it comes to enhancing calculations of heat passage from the interior onto the surface area. Knowledge of heat flow is extremely important as it supplies significant info on just what is causing the geysers. “This final Enceladus flyby elicits feelings of both sadness and triumph,” said Earl Maize,...

Big solar storm Monday – Chance to see Northern Lights

This forecast of a G3 magnetic storm Monday overnight means that chances may be good to see the Aurora borealis, also known as the Northern Lights. Because of the intensity with this storm, the aurora could possibly be perceptible as far away south as Oklahoma City and additionally Raleigh, N.C. The prediction coming from the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks demonstrates regions which may have a good likelihood of looking at the lighting. The solid green lines exhibits what distance south the Northern Lights can be pictured on Monday evening. Forecast: Auroral activity shall be high(++). Weather...

Flying Saucers for Everybody! 1954 Magazine Prediction

In the 1954 issue out of Mechanix Illustrated, the magazine printed a superbly great work named “FLYING SAUCERS FOR EVERYBODY!” This excellent brief piece illustrated the way flying disks would improve laborious commutes throughout far-out period in 1965. The main article also has numerous terrific schematics and also comprehensive solutions of the disks technician, Mr. Peter Nofi: The disk was in fact designed by Peter Nofi, an official from the Merchant Marines. Nofi, an obsessive student of aerodynamics, had bundled the downward jet power of this ducted-fan aided by the recognized rule of high-lift air-foil. We recognize that a fan...

Europe Eyes Establishment of Moon Base by 2030s

Lunar Leap: Europe Eyes Establishment of Moon Base by 2030s There is rising appeal in Europe to focus on the moon as humanity’s future deep-space destination. The moon, devotees suggest, might work as a springboard that will thrust the human exploration of the solar system, as well as Mars as the horizon purpose. Thus Europe is in fact ratcheting up exactly what it sees to be the ideal importance of the moon through pushing forward towards lunar research missions that will consist of possibly mankind plus robots.Naming the effort a “comeback to the moon,” European space coordinators envision a series...

Workers of a company in Lota, Chile claim having seen an extraterrestrial craft flying over the commune. These employees believe it stopped in mid-air to observe them. More than stars can be seen in the skies over Lota. Mario knows this well; he is an employee with a company located only meters from the coast, and on December 8 (2007) he had an experience that has left him in shock to this very day. “I am certain that the crew, if it had one, were aware of my presence and that I was watching them,” he recalls. It was after...

NASA Spacecraft in Earth’s Orbit, Preparing to Study Magnetic Reconnection

NASA Spacecraft in Earth’s Orbit – To Study Magnetic Reconnection

Following a successful launch at 10:44 p.m. EDT Thursday, NASA’s four Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) spacecraft are positioned in Earth’s orbit to begin the first space mission dedicated to the study of a phenomenon called magnetic reconnection. This process is thought to be the catalyst for some of the most powerful explosions in our solar system. The spacecraft, positioned one on top of the other on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V 421 rocket, launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. After reaching orbit, each spacecraft deployed from the rocket’s upper stage sequentially, in five-minute increments, beginning at 12:16 a.m....

Ghosts of Gemini

Forgotten photos show the human face of NASA’s early astronaut program Gemini was the middle child of the early space program, the one we always have trouble remembering. Mercury had the right stuff, Apollo had the moon. Gemini had…hardware demonstrations. Yet these two-man missions—10 over the course of 20 months in 1965 and 1966—worked out some of the fundamentals of spaceflight, from spacewalking to orbital docking. Sourced through from:

Asteroid expected to safely pass Earth on December 24, but conspiracy theorists disagree

If you point your telescope towards the skies this Christmas Eve, you will be met with an impressive sight. It won’t be Santa and his reindeer stealing your gaze, instead it will be a giant asteroid flying past Earth. The 2km long asteroid, known as 2003 SD220, has been monitored since 2003 when it was discovered by the Lowell Observatory Near-Earth Object Search program. The prospect of a large asteroid hurling towards our planet sounds terrifying, but there is little cause for concern as it will be 6.7 million miles away from Earth. In fact, a NASA report said the...

Rare Full Moon On Christmas Day

There will be no need for Rudolph’s red shiny nose this year — Santa Claus will have all the light he needs from a rare full moon on Christmas Eve. Not since 1977 has a full moon dawned in the skies on Christmas. But this year, a bright full moon will be an added gift for the holidays. December’s full moon, the last of the year, is called the Full Cold Moon because it occurs during the beginning of winter. The moon’s peak this year will occur at 6:11 a.m. EST. This rare event won’t happen again until 2034. That’s...
